Components in a Computer
The device we are going to talk about is the computer. There are many components to a computer. One of the main components is the motherboard (a circuit board with slots for other components to connect to). Without the mother board, there is no computer. The second main component of a computer is called the CPU or Central Processing Unit (it handles all instructions from hardware and software within the computer). The third main component of a computer is the Software (Programs within the computers memory). The fourth main component is the GPU or Graphics Processing Unit (renders images and video for the computer screen).
There are other components you need for a computer to run, such as Storage, RAM, Wires, and Power Supply.
Storage is stored in physical hard drives that connect to the motherboard with wires. This stores everything in your computer. It is kind of like a very big flash drive. RAM or Random Access Memory is memory that the programs in your computer can use. It is stored in sticks that go directly in RAM slots on the motherboard. The Wires in a computer consist of many types of connections and wire types. Power wires and data wires are the 2 types of wires in a computer. Data wires move data from the hard drives to the motherboard and to the rest of the computer. Power wires power the computer and connect to the motherboard and hard drives from the power supply. The Power Supply powers the computer. It sends power to the motherboard and to the hard drives to your computer can work.
